With 7 studio albums, 3 more with various artists, 1 as a duo and 6 independently, C-KAN has built one of the most solid careers in the Spanish-language rap scene in Latin America. José Luis Maldonado better known as C-KAN was born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1987. After the death of his father, when he was 12 years old, he grew up in a strong social environment surrounded by violence and crime, but always under the tutelage of his grandmother who continued to raise this young man.
HIS BEGINNINGS
Influenced by bands and rappers such as Cypress Hill, Control Machete and Vico C, C-KAN began making his first improvisations which he recorded on cassette at the age of 14. His first song "Get Money" was written in 2006, then came songs like "Siluetas del Rap" and "Déjenme Afinar los Rayos" that made the company Mastered Trax decide to work hand in hand for the development of C-KAN in the music industry.
AS A SOLOIST
In December 2012, as a soloist he released his first studio album "Voy Por El Sueño De Muchos" which quickly positioned itself at number 1 in sales on iTunes Mexico. By 2014 he released his second album "Clasificación C" Vol. 1, where he excelled in collaborations with international artists such as: MC Magic, Sporty Loco, T Lopez, Pipo Ti and Lil Rob. The album entered the Billboard charts and reached position 42, becoming the first album by the rapper to position himself in this list.
In early 2015 the third studio album "Clasificación C" Vol. 2, C-KAN reached the number 28 position in the Billboard charts and climbed to the top 5 of sales in physical and digital stores. It was recognized as the winner of 'Best Rap Album' by Ritmo Urbano magazine and nominated for the IMAS in the same category.
In 2016, his success continued to escalate, and he shared the stage with world-class artists such as Rihanna, Coldplay, Lil Wayne at Budweiser's Made in America Festival. In addition, C-KAN has participated in major international events such as SXSW in Texas, 'High Time's Magazine's Cannabis Cup' in Los Angeles, El Tri's 50th anniversary in Mexico City and special guest at Roc Nation's 'Yandel Dangerous Tour' in California.
HIS MUSIC SURPASSES FILM, SERIES AND VIDEO GAMES
His lyrics crossed borders and reached the cinema where C-KAN debuts as a composer in Omar Chaparro's film "Compadres" and interpreting the soundtrack of the film with the same name. He also includes the song "Maria" in his incidental music for Pantelion Films in 2016.
Likewise, his music and lyrics have reached renowned television series such as 'Soto Copertura' by La RAI de Italia, 'Cartel Crew' by VH1, 'Veronica Mars' by Hulu, ‘Las 13 esposas de Wilson Fernandez’ (Blim Mexico) and 'Queen of the South' for NBC / Netflix. Also, in video games like 'Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands' and 'Watch Dogs 2'. He was also part of the music of the App DAZN that promoted the first fight of the boxer 'El Canelo' Alvarez.
For 2017, he decides to explore new frontiers and releases his first Reggae album "Días de sol" in collaboration with Pipo Ti, reaching in its opening week, the 12th position in the Billboard Reggae and Latin Rhythm charts.
COLLABORATIONS WITH THE GREATEST
C-Kan has collaborations with artists such as Baby Bash, Frankie J, Berner, B-Real, Xzibit, Cierra Ramirez, Kid Ink, Ozomatli among others. He has other 200 collaborations of different genres such as reggae, reggae and Mexican Regional Music, etc. being the Mexican rapper with more collaborations.
SURPASSES "DESPACITO" IN EUROPE
In 2018 the rapper from Guadalajara was the winner of the Urban Music Awards in Europe, being recognized as 'Artist of the Year (South America)' where he competed with artists of international stature such as Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and J Balvin.
In 2020, El Rapero continued to innovate and released his album "Mi Canción", which comes with his film debut as an actor in a medium-length film titled "Mi Canción".

Con 7 álbumes de estudio, 3 más con varios artistas, 1 como dúo y 6 de forma independiente, C-KAN ha construido una de las carreras más sólidas en la escena del rap en español en América Latina. José Luis Maldonado mejor conocido como C-KAN nació en Guadalajara, México, en 1987. Luego de la muerte de su padre, cuando tenía 12 años, creció en un fuerte entorno social rodeado de violencia y delincuencia, pero siempre bajo la tutela de su abuela que continuó criando a este joven.
SUS COMIENZOS
